EADS interested in Surrey Satellite Technology
The planned acquisition is aimed at strengthening the Airbus unrelated activities of EADS report the French "Les Echos" without naming sources.
The talks already started two months ago, when Surrey University quit talks with Thales Alenia Space and OHB Technology. Surrey University holds 85% of SSTL.
Surrey Satellite Technology reported a £21 million revenue in 2006 and developed the satellite GIOVE-A for the Galileo-Programme of the European Space Agency (ESA).
The acquisition could give EADS Astrium access to new technology and the British Space-Budget.
